action: all fibers: extend the hip,(coxal joint). laterally rotate hip, abduct hip. lower fibers: adduct hip.

orgin: coccyx, edge of sacrum, posterior iliac crest,sacrotuberous and sacroiliac ligaments.

insertion: gluteal tuberosity (upper fibers) and iliotibial tract (lower fibers).
Iliopsoas (A)
action: flexes hip, (coxal joint). laterally rotates hip,(coxal joint). adducts hip.(coxal joint).
Iliopsoas (O)
orgin: psoas major - bodies and transverse processes of lumbar vertebrae. iliacus - iliac fossa.
Iliopsoas (I)
insertion: lesser trochanter of the femur.
Piriformis (A)
action: laterally rotates hip, abducts thigh when hip is flexed.

orgin: anterior surface of sacrum.

insertion: greater trochanter.

orgin: gluteal surface of the ilium between iliac crest and posterior and anterior gluteal lines.

insertion: greater trochanter.

insertion: base of 1st metatarsal, medial cuneiform.
Extensor digitorum longus (A)
action: extend the 2 - 5 toes, (metatarsophalangeal and interphalangeal joints), dorsiflex ankle, evert foot.

orgin: lateralcondyle of tibia, proximal anterior shaft of fibula interosseous membrane.
Extensor digitorum longus (I)
insertion: middle and distal phalanges of 2 - 5 toes.
Extensor digitorum (A)
action: extend the 2 - 5 fingers (metacarpophalangeal and interphalangeal joints. assist to extend wrist (radiocarpal joint).
Extensor digitorum (O)
orgin: common extensor tendon from lateral epicondyle of humerus.
Extensor digitorum (I)
insertion: middle and distal phalanges of 2 - 5 fingers.
Flexor carpi radials (A)
action: flex wrist, abduct wrist, flex elbow.

orgin: common flexor tendon from medial epicondyle.

insertion: base of 2 - 3 metacarpals.

orgin: common tendon that attaches to the posterior surface of sacrum, iliac crest, spinous processes of the lumbar, and last 2 thoracic vertebrae

Insertion: various attachments at the posterior ribs, spinous and transverse processes of the thoriac and cervical vertebrae, and mastoid process of temporal bone

3 muscles are spinalis, longissimus, iliocostalis
